Learning With Us

Ixworth Free School, as with all Free Schools in the Seckford Foundation Free Schools Trust, was set up at the request of those members of the community who wanted to improve aspirations and rates of progress and achievement for young people of secondary school age.

Our vision and ethos is therefore set up to achieve those overarching objectives.

More information on the vision and ethos of schools in our Trust can be found by clicking here.

The five key pillars underpinning the vision of the school (academic, pastoral, inclusion, enrichment, pathways) are explored further in various sections of our website. Click on the name of the pillar below to go to the right place on the site for further information where that information is available:

Suffolk is near the bottom of national KS2 and GCSE league tables currently. If we are to make a difference to the achievement of our students, we have to make more rapid progress than they might make at other schools. Therefore, at Ixworth Free School, we aim for a learning culture of challenge, by targeting our students to make 4 levels progress across their journey through KS3 and 4. The average progress made nationally is 3 levels.

All our lessons are timetabled with qualified teachers. On occasion, it might be the case that lessons may be taken by those in training to be qualified or by external visitors who bring with them particular knowledge or skill to add to the delivery of a wider scheme of work. The Trust has high expectations of its staff and teachers must follow national Teachers’ Standards which clearly outline expectations with regard to professional conduct.
